WORKING WITH NORTHERN COMMUNITIES TO STUDY POLAR BEARS
through collaborative research
working with coexistence films to share our story
In 2024 we joined forces with Coexistence Films, the Eeyou Marine Region Wildlife Board and the Cree Trappers' Association to create a documentary detailing the story of polar bears at the southern edge of their global range.
The film will highlight the communities leading this non-invasive polar bear study by following local leaders, researchers and knowledge holders as they collect data that will answer critical questions about polar bear persistence in the region.
As we work towards answering these questions of international, national and local significance, the film will explore how these answers will inform the future of James Bay polar bears and community coexistence measures.
Development filming began in July 2024 and we are actively seeking support to continue this work in 2025. If you are interested in helping us tell this story, please reach out!
